MontaVista Software, and StreetFire Sound Labs, an open architecture stereo equipment company, today announced that MontaVista® Linux® is the chosen operating system for StreetFire’s debut RBX1600 Digital Music Server. The StreetFire RBX1600 Digital Music Server is the first of an ecosystem of StreetFire home stereo/home theater products. The RBX1600 puts a smart, networked front-end on cost-effective Sony CD jukeboxes, integrating hundreds - or even thousands - of users’ CD-based music with hard drive-based MP3 tunes. Client software for the RBX1600 provides an intuitive interface for managing music collections and is compatible with Windows, Apple Macintosh, or Linux platforms. Now it’s possible to simply enjoy music regardless of its format or location.
