MontaVista and Texas Instruments Team to Accelerate and Simplify the Development of Digital Video Applications

MontaVista Linux Professional Edition selected as
 the first available platform for DaVinci technology

SUNNYVALE, Calif., December 5, 2005 — MontaVista Software, Inc., the leading Linux provider for the embedded and telecommunications markets, today announced MontaVista Linux Professional Edition (Pro) is the first available operating system for Texas Instruments Incorporated’s (TI) DaVinci™ technology.  With DaVinci technology, TI and MontaVista will provide the industry’s first complete offering of an open platform to enable digital video innovation without requiring extensive digital video expertise. 

As part of the new DaVinci technology offering, TI will include MontaVista Linux Professional Edition together with two digital signal processor (DSP) – based systems on a chip (SoC), multimedia codecs, application programming interfaces (APIs), frameworks and development tools for innovative digital video systems.  With the integration of MontaVista Linux Professional Edition, TI is delivering an innovative solution that reduces system costs and helps speed time to market for digital video developers.
