MontaVista is the leading supplier of embedded Linux and had previously ported MontaVista Linux to the Virtex-II Pro FPGA family. The creation of a board support package (BSP) will greatly enhance the ability of Xilinx and MontaVista customers to create Virtex-II Pro FPGA-based embedded applications on this popular operating system.

History of partnering
This announcement represents a continuing partnership between MontaVista and Xilinx. Last July, the two companies announced that MontaVista Linux Professional Edition supports the Xilinx Virtex-II Pro devices.
