RTI and MontaVista Software team to offer
ScopeTools for MontaVista Linux

Popular embedded dynamic visualization tools plug into
MontaVista Linux DevRocket Development Environment

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Mar. 25, 2004 — MontaVista Software Inc., the company powering the embedded revolution, and RTI, maker of the embedded industry’s most popular dynamic debugging and visualization tools today announced RTI ScopeTools™ for the popular MontaVista® Linux® operating system and the MontaVista® DevRocket™ development environment.

“Developers building devices with MontaVista Linux can now leverage a world-class environment and tools to debug and optimize their embedded applications,” said Sheila Baker, vice president, Marketing, MontaVista Software. “The RTI ScopeTools complement the rich MontaVista product portfolio plugging into MontaVista DevRocket, to accelerate development and deployment of next-generation intelligent devices.”

RTI ScopeTools provide sophisticated performance analysis and debugging capabilities for today’s complex embedded applications. MontaVista Software will initially offer three of RTI's powerful tools, StethoScope - RTI's original real-time data monitor, ProfileScope - the dynamic profiler, and MemScope - the real-time memory analyzer. These tools allow developers to monitor an embedded system while it is running, to optimize performance, and to improve reliability by measuring memory integrity. The RTI ScopeTools will plug seamlessly into MontaVista DevRocket, MontaVista Software’s Eclipse-based comprehensive integrated development environment (IDE).

RTI and MontaVista will be demonstrating RTI ScopeTools for MontaVista Linux in booths #1842 and #1835 at the Embedded Systems Conference, San Francisco and at the Real Time Show in Paris, France in Stand No. Q22 and R7 (both shows run March 30-April 1).

“The growing clout of embedded Linux in the market makes availability of advanced and easier-to-use development tools increasingly critical,” said Stan Schneider, CEO, RTI. “MontaVista Software, a pioneer in the embedded Linux market, continues to set itself apart from the crowd by offering these premier tools to Linux developers.”

MontaVista DevRocket is a fully integrated and graphical development environment designed to facilitate system software and applications development. DevRocket, also based on Eclipse technology, offers a wide choice of targets and host platforms, including Linux, Windows and Solaris. It integrates and streamlines essential development activities, including compilation, editing, debugging and revision control, and supports integration of key third party Eclipse development tools and components.
