MontaVista and Atheros Deliver High Performance SDIO Stack to Open Source Community

MontaVista Software, Inc., the leading embedded Linux provider for the telecommunications, mobile and embedded markets, today announced the creation of a new open source project to provide full SDIO functionality to Linux.  Using an extensive code base developed by Atheros, the collaborative effort will provide an open source and architecture independent solution that offers high performance throughput while maintaining the flexibility to support various SDIO host controllers and devices.

MontaVista Linux provides fail-safe platform with clustering functions for Rohill’s latest network infrastructure products

Oct 23, 2006 SANTA CLARA, Calif.

MontaVista Software, Inc., the leading embedded Linux provider for the telecommunications, mobile, and embedded markets, today announced that Dutch network equipment provider Rohill has started shipping infrastructure equipment running MontaVista Carrier Grade Edition 4.0. Rohill supplies private radio network platforms and systems intended for mission-critical users such as the military, police, fire, ambulance services, as well as business critical users including airports and public transportation. At the heart of these systems are Rohill’s TetraNode eXchanges (TNXs), a pure soft-switch TETRA infrastructure solution, which can be interconnected by means of an IP network to form the digital backbone of a mobile communications network.

Motorola Phones run MontaVista Linux

Motorola PCS (Personal Communications Sector) has announced its third and fourth mobile phone powered by MontaVista Linux, the E680 entertainment phone and the A780 business phone. The first two announced and shipping phones include the A768 and the A760. The Motorola A760 combines features of a mobile phone with the capabilities of a personal digital assistant (PDA), digital camera, video player, MP3 player, speakerphone, advanced messaging, instant Internet access and Bluetooth™ wireless technology. The A760 was Motorola's first handset demonstrating the company's commitment to making the Linux operating system a key pillar of its handset software strategy.

MontaVista Linux Powers New NTT DoCoMo 3G Phones Manufactured by NEC and Panasonic
