MontaVista Ends First Full Year of Operation on High Note

MontaVista Software, Inc., developer of the Hard Hat™ Linux operating system for embedded applications, announced today that the company ended fiscal year 2000 on a triumphant note, closing 15% over plan, with ten-fold revenue growth over 1999. In 2000, MontaVista captured over 80 customer design wins and significantly grew its talent pool, organically, without need for acquisition. The company also secured over $30 million in funding from key investors, including Intel Corporation.

MMC Networks and Monta Vista Software Bring Linux to Network Processor-Based Routers

MontaVista Receives Investment from Intel

Sep 13, 2000 SUNNYVALE, Calif.

MontaVista Software, Inc., developer of the Hard Hat™ Linux® operating system for embedded applications, today announced it received an equity investment from Intel Capital. The agreement will help ensure that MontaVista's software will take advantage of the architectural benefits of the Intel® XScale™ microarchitecture and the Intel® StrongARM™ and IA-32 processor families. These microprocessor architectures involve multiple business units within Intel. Further details of the investment were undisclosed.

MontaVista First to Deliver Hard Real-Time Linux

MontaVista Software Inc., developer of the Hard Hat™ Linux® operating system for embedded computers, today announces the immediate availability of a hard real-time fully preempexp_channel_data_field_1_current Linux kernel based on current 2.4 software. This kernel revolutionizes the application responsiveness of the Linux kernel, while fully preserving the Linux programming model. The MontaVista hard real-time preempexp_channel_data_field_1_current kernel provides a 30-fold improvement in application responsiveness of a standard Linux operating environment. MontaVista is targeting a January 2001 release of a standard Hard Hat Linux product based on this technology.

Naming Hitoshi Arima as general manager of its Japan operations in Tokyo, MontaVista has established its direct presence in Japan.
