pvPlayer™ and pvAuthor™ - MontaVista Linux solutions to be demonstrated at Embedded Technology 2003 Conference in Yokohama , Japan

Tokyo and San Diego, CA - November 12 , 2003 - PacketVideo Corporation, the world's premier independent provider of multimedia software for mobile devices, and MontaVista Software, the company powering the embedded revolution, today announced that PacketVideo will supply commercial multimedia solutions for OEM mobile devices based on MontaVista® Linux®. PacketVideo will produce embedded pvPlayer™ and pvAuthor™ video solutions for MontaVista Linux-based mobile devices.

PacketVideo's pvPlayer enables handset users to play high quality 3GPP-standard video and audio content on their devices. PacketVideo's pvAuthor™ turns phones into point-and-shoot camcorders, enabling mobile users to record their own high-quality video, including audio, and forward to family or friends as video-enhanced MMS messages. Also, video streamed to the handset by other devices can be inserted into MMS messages and forwarded to others.

PacketVideo has chosen MontaVista Linux as a key operating system for PacketVideo's outsourced mobilemedia device development projects with major device OEMs implementing Linux-based products. PacketVideo will take advantage of the extensive software tools, development environment and expert development support provided by the MontaVista embedded Linux solution. The agreement between the two companies covers both MontaVista Linux Professional Edition and MontaVista Linux Consumer Electronics Edition.
