Sunnyvale, Calif., January 31, 2001 - In a move that further advances its business development program and strengthens its customer support network across Europe, MontaVista Software has opened a new branch office in Stockholm, Sweden.

This announcement comes as MontaVista, a leading provider of open-source software solutions for pervasive computing environments, seeks to build on the success of its growth in European markets. The company, which has its European headquarters in Paris, France, already operates European branch offices in Germany and the United Kingdom and has set-up a European distribution facility in Benelux. The opening of the Stockholm office completes the establishment of MontaVista's initial support infrastructure in Europe.

The Stockholm office will be headed up by Nordic Regional Director, Per A. Nilsson and backed by a team of four applications and marketing engineers with 40 years combined embedded systems experience. Mr. Nilsson come to MontaVista Software from Wind River Systems were he was a Senior Account Manager within the Consumer and Defense sectors. His team will focus on the communications infrastructure and internet appliance sectors of the embedded computer market and will provide a high level of engineering, sales and marketing support for customers in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway.
