MontaVista to Showcase Its Commercial Linux Products and Services at ESC Silicon Valley Conference

Bare Metal Engine™ Demonstration Will Show Application Performance Gain of 600%

SANTA CLARA, CA - May 2, 2011 - MontaVista® Software, LLC, a leader in embedded Linux® commercialization announced it will be showcasing its commercial Linux products and services at the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley in San Jose, California. MontaVista will also be demonstrating its revolutionary Bare Metal Engine™.

MontaVista Bare Metal Engine delivers the technologies required for next generation multi-core SoC's to achieve extremely high performance, up to 600% Application performance gains, and leverage new multi-core resource management capabilities to fully maximize multi-core designs, and delivers new high availability features incorporating the latest open source technologies.

Bare Metal Engine provides a light-weight, configurable run-time environment that delivers RTOS performance inside a Linux environment. Bare Metal Engine lets users create a dedicated environment to run user-space applications, providing bare-metal execution and performance all within a Linux environment. Bare Metal Engine provides flexible and easy to adapt configurations, allowing users to choose their own unique balance between system-services and bare metal performance.

"MontaVista continues to provide the most efficient and powerful environment for multi-core SoC's," said Dan Cauchy, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at MontaVista Software, LLC. "Using Bare Metal Engine, applications can significantly increase performance and competitive differentiation without increasing hardware compute capability. Bare Metal engine optimizes performance by fusing applications with high-speed I/Os which enables utilization of up to 99.9% of the available processor power."

Development teams no longer have to choose between running an RTOS or Linux, high performance or services. With MontaVista's Bare Metal Engine environment you get the best of both worlds; an extremely high performance application with access to all the Linux services without the additional overhead of a hypervisor. Bare Metal Engine provides a very high performance application environment without having to resort to complex kernel level development. By enabling dedication of I/O to user space applications Bare Metal Engine opens a new world of flexibility with high performance applications that don't have to be in the kernel, or coded in C language. This means application developers have greater access to performance than ever before.

ESC Silicon Valley exposition is being held at the McEnery Convention Center from May 3rd to May 5th, 2011 in San Jose, California. Visitors to this year's conference can witness the performance leap that MontaVista's Bare Metal Engine delivers in booth 2202 located in the Multicore Expo Hall. MontaVista will have experts available to discuss MontaVista products for Android, Automotive and general Embedded environments as well as their professional services and support offerings.
