Cavium Networks and MontaVista Software Team to Deliver Record VPN Performance for SOHO, SME Secure Gateways

Cavium Networks, the cost and performance leader in security processing, and MontaVista Software, the company powering the embedded revolution, today announced a combined solution that offers 2x – 3x faster IPsec VPN performance on Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) IXP4XX network processors compared to existing solutions at similar price-points. This high-performance solution enables SOHO and SME gateway OEMs and ODMs (outsourced development manufacturers) to cost-effectively build security appliances that support higher broadband speeds of 50Mbps VDSL and Fast Ethernet deployment in countries like Japan and Korea. Additionally, the Cavium and MontaVista Software solution provides significantly greater headroom on the IXP4XX to implement richer application functionality, such as firewalls, deep packet inspection and voice-over-IP.
