Bootcamp for Beginners
We are pleased to offer Bootcamp for Beginners to anyone interested in Embedded Linux Developing. The five course tutorial sessions are in order and being offered on Monday, October 8th only.
Tutorial Sessions
Getting Started on Your First Embedded Linux Project
Speaker: Fahd Abidi
This presentation will present the steps required to configure a standard Linux
desktop system for cross development using an example embedded Linux distribution.
This initial set up, including the exportation of a filesystem for the embedded
target, requires care to ensure that the embedded tool chain does not contaminate
the host tool chain. Also included are the basic steps for configuring DHCP servers,
TFTP servers and NFS servers on a number of Linux distributions. This "how-to"
session is targeted at familiarizing the audience with the set-up required before
embarking on an embedded Linux project.
Embedded Linux Architecture 101
Speaker: Joe Green
An overview of the Linux operating system architecture. This session will
provide a basic understanding of the structure of the system and suggestions
of where to look for more detailed information.
Embedded Linux Primer - Luncheon book signing
Author: Christopher Hallinan
As part of our Bootcamp luncheon, meet author Christopher Hallinan, whose
Embedded Linux Primer is the number-one selling book on embedded Linux
development. Mr. Hallinan will appear in person to sign your books and answer
your questions.
Embedded Linux Overview
Speaker: Dan Cauchy
An overview of the driving forces of the Linux community: Who are the key
community leaders? What defines a distribution? Where are the various distribution
sources? How can you get one? How often is it released? How do these players and
participants work together in the open source world? We will also include a
survey of the organizations behind Linux standardization efforts.
Overview of Embedded Linux Analysis Tools
Speaker: JT Thomas
Linux is a well instrumented platform. During the course of its open source
evolution, developers have created thousands of command line tools to analyze
Linux in many different ways. Some of the more common questions these tools can
answer are: How do I find memory leaks and understand memory usage? Where are
my performance bottlenecks? What events have transpired on the system and when?
This session will show how tools make developers more productive.
DevRocket for Embedded Applications Developers
Speaker: JT Thomas
What is Eclipse? What are the differences between using Eclipse for enterprise
applications vs. embedded applications? How does DevRocket fit into the Eclipse
community? This session will answer those questions and others about how
DevRocket is architected, DevRocket features most people don't know about,
and the benefits of using a representative target environment from the very
beginning of your development cycle.
