Derek Howard has led efforts to improve the efficiency of MontaVista's hardware enablement and services resources globally, resulting in higher on-time project completion rates and increased year-over-year bookings. Before joining MontaVista, Derek was a founder of BlueStar Solutions and the company's vice president of operations and professional services. After BlueStar was acquired by ACS, a Fortune 500 company, Derek led the formation of a successful professional services unit for ACS. Before BlueStar, Derek held senior positions in multi-billion-dollar South African companies, including Alusaf Hillside and McCarthy Retail, and he worked as a consultant in the U.S. for KPMG, Siemens MicroElectronics, Nestlé, and other companies.

Derek has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of South Africa.
