Test Automation FrameworkMontaVista testing framework has evolved from a process that takes us from the one-off, one board, and one-build at a time to an automated process that can manage regression testing of multiple systems and environments together and with as little intervention as possible. MontaVista has a large board farm spanning all supported processor architectures, board form-factors, and MontaVista Linux releases. Included in this board farm are Semiconductor vendor-supplied microprocessor reference boards, COTS boards, and customer-specific proprietary boards.
The whole process and system can be customized and delivered as part of your SOP work package and evolve as your experience and requirements change. MontaVista’s Test Automation Framework consists of a series of components that have the foundation of IEEE format and specifications and automated processes. The framework consists of requirements management, a reporting component, content management or test documentation, a test harness, the test assets of the basic and automated scripts. With this automated process we are able to schedule thousands of tests at a time and organize the tests into groups and test against specific targets dependent on the requirements. You can create a scenario to test and manage anything; blackbox or whitebox testing, multiple levels of regression tests, etc. Your requirements drive the testing processes developed and how the test results tied back to requirements for traceability, etc. Massive array of test assets can be leveraged by the specific test plan developed for a single or multiple projects. New test assets can be developed as necessary when an existing test case does not adequately test a requirement. In essence, a simple process: find, fix, test, report.
