Position Overview:

MontaVista requires a Field Applications Engineer / Solution Architect in EMEA to primarily support the Automotive business unit sales team. The candidate will work pro-actively with the sales team and be responsible for the technical customer presentations, demonstrations of our products, help to write responses to RFPs and help manage partner solutions critical to our Automotive customers and will actively identify customer requirements and provide technical guidance and consultancy.

The person will work closely with Professional Services, Marketing, Engineering and other departments of MontaVista as a part of the pre-sales support organization to ensure that all relevant information is delivered to the customers. The ideal candidate will build a relationship with customers and the eco-system existing around MontaVista products and solutions and become a trusted advisor within the team.

Job Duties Summary:

Provide technical support to the company's sales staff and customers with in-depth product and market knowledge.
Oversee pre-sale and/or post-sale support of MontaVista software solutions and products into the Automotive sector
Prepare and present technical information in sales presentations, product demonstrations, seminars and trade shows.
Assist sales staff in assessing potential application of company products and services to meet customer needs.
Provide answers to customer inquiries concerning MontaVista software products and service offerings
Manage MontaVista software product evaluations. Assist sales staff in developing working relationships with MontaVista Partners.
Support creation of RFP responses and can be responsible for writing key architecture and solution portions

Experience Required

The candidate must have 5+ years’ experience in working with GNU/Linux open source technologies and have a broad technical understanding of the Embedded Linux marketplace. In addition it will be highly desirable that the candidate has

Technical sales experience in one of the relevant automotive solution domains:- Infotainment, Driver Information or Telematics
Experience in working for a supplier to an Automotive OEM or Tier 1 preferable

The candidate must be familiar with sales methodologies and reporting requirements and have excellent English written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.

Willingness to travel (may exceed 50%)

Minimum Bachelors Degree in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering from accredited university or equivalent work experience

Personality:

The candidate posses and shows a high level of energy and positive attitude in the interaction with colleagues and customer and is solution and sales oriented. We expect that the candidate will be a team player yet also a self starter with a professional demeanor.

The candidate must be comfortable speaking with product managers and project managers on technical issues and lead the discussion towards the commercial issues.
